The 26 Glacier Cruise Experience

The 26 Glacier Cruise departs from Whittier, Alaska aboard The Klondike Express, a luxurious catamaran. Relax in one of the four passenger booths with an excellent view so you won't miss a thing, where you'll be served a hot lunch. Amenities aboard include a saloon, snack bar and gift shop. A U.S. Forest Service Ranger is on-board to point out interesting sights and wildlife you may encounter on this 145-mile trip. As you cruise the calm waters of Prince William Sound, you may encounter migratory whales, seals, otters, porpoises, sea lions and whales. Keep your eye out for wildlife such as bear and mountain goats on the banks and bald eagles soaring above. On the cruise, you will see 26 glaciers as you experience their brilliant blue hues and hear the crackling noise as large pieces of ice fall into the water, called "calving." Before returning to Whittier, the ship stops at the Kittiwake Bird Rookery where over 10,000 birds nest each summer on the rocky cliffs.
