How to Track Air Travel

1.

Visit the website of your airline, or the airline of the flight you wish to track.

2.

Locate the travel information or flight status information on your airline's homepage. Click on this link to track your flight.

3.

Enter your flight number and the departure date. If you don't have this information readily available, you can enter the departure date along with the departure and arrival cities.

4.

Submit this information and wait for your flight results to show up. Your flight has now been tracked. Some airlines even allow you to sign up for flight status alerts via text message or e-mail.

Tips and Warnings

  • You cannot track flights more than 24 hours prior to departure.
  • Every airplane that takes off in the world has a flight number and can be tracked online. You can find out the time of departure, the estimated time of arrival and whether or not the flight was delayed. The new flight information for delayed flights that have yet to take off is also trackable. This information is useful when you are flying out or picking someone up at the airport; it helps to prevent you from making an unnecessary trip to the airport only to find out your flight has been delayed or cancelled.
