How to Travel From Canada to St. Kitt's by Transferring Airlines Through the US

1.

Book your flight from Canada to St. Kitts by visiting any airline or travel website. Discount travel websites, such as Travelocity, Cheaptickets and Expedia offer discounted prices on flights. Spend a few minutes comparing prices to book the least expensive flight.

2.

Enter your departure dates, Canadian departure city and the St. Kitts airport code (SKB). Also enter the number of passengers and the time of day you'd like to leave.

3.

Browse the listing of available flights. Choose your favorite to begin purchasing your tickets. Some flights will require you to switch airlines during your layover and some will not. Choose a flight that allows enough time to deplane from your first flight and walk to the departure gate of your connecting flight.

4.

Enter your name and the names of any other passengers for whom you are purchasing tickets. Enter your personal information, such as your address and contact information. Some airlines allow you to choose your own seats when making your reservation. Review your reservation and click "Submit". Print the confirmation page for your records.

5.

Plan to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your departure time. Visit the ticket counter to print your boarding pass and to check your luggage. Most airlines offer online check-in for flights, which becomes available 24 hours prior to departure. Checking-in online allows you to bypass the ticket counter, unless you need to check your bags.

6.

Present your passport and boarding pass at the security gate. Once you've passed through security, follow the signs to your gate number.

7.

Board your flight when your row is called.

8.

Exit your plane when it lands to begin your layover. The gate number and terminal of your connecting flight are listed on the boarding pass. Ask an airport employee for directions if you are having trouble finding your connection.

9.

Board your connecting flight and proceed to St. Kitts.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you have enough time between flights check out the shops and restaurants located in your terminal.
  • Canadian residents looking to fly directly to the Caribbean island of St. Kitts can do so in two ways. You can book a charter flight from Toronto, which is the only direct flight to St. Kitts from Canada or you can book commercial. Charter flights are more expensive than commercial flights, which is why many travelers choose to fly commercial. Since there are no direct commercial flights to St. Kitts, your flight will involve a layover in the United States.
